Kathryn Mashima joined the firm in 2007 and practices in the firm’s Estate Planning and Business and Commercial Practice Groups. She received her J.D. from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law, where she was a member of the 2004 Client Counseling Team. During law school, Kathryn also served as an extern for First Circuit Court Judge Michael A. Town, and in the office of Senator Norman Sakamoto.
Prior to law school, Kathryn received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Hawaii. She also volunteered at the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney in the Victim Witness Assistance Division, and worked at the legislature for Senator Norman Sakamoto and subsequently, Senator Matthew M. Matsunaga. Kathryn also worked as a Pretrial Officer for the Oahu Intake Service Center at the Oahu Community Correctional Center. Prior to joining the firm, she began her legal career at a small Estate Planning firm in Honolulu.
A freelance writer in her spare time, Kathryn’s contributions have been printed in various publications such as Hawaii Women Magazine, the Da Kine Dictionary, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin Features Column, The Goddess Speaks, and has a poem that has been accepted for submission by Hybolics literary magazine in the near future. Her passion for creative writing led her to chair the Fifty-second and Fifty-Third Cherry Blossom Festival Essay Contest sponsored by the Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Kathryn was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is married to Guy Y. Mashima and has three stepchildren.
